At Kool Kidz Childcare Charlemont, we cater to children from six weeks to six years old, offering a light-filled, modern environment for your child to enjoy. Our centre boasts a dedicated kindergarten floor with a private yard, cubby house, and age-appropriate playgrounds.
Kool Beginnings Curriculum (KBC) is our child-focused, play-based, comprehensive curriculum. Built on the Australian Early Years Learning Framework, we aim to support all children, including those in 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten, to grow and learn through an educational program tailored to their individual goals and needs. We ensure families, educators, and visitors feel a sense of belonging, safety, and security to be who they are and are supported to become all they can be.
Our light-filled, age-appropriate childcare centre offers an extensive selection of educational and engaging books and toys for all our curious age levels.
Led by Bachelor-qualified kindergarten teachers and early childhood certified educators, we offer a higher than required educator-to-child ratio to provide more individual attention and consistency of care for your child.

Meet the dynamic mother-daughter duo behind Kool Kidz Charlemont Childcare – Emily and Donna Shearer. Emily, with over 12 years of dedicated experience in early childhood education, is a passionate leader drawing on the United Nations rights of the child as a basis through which to design and deliver a quality childcare experience. Her journey from an enthusiastic educator, to director, and subsequently to a head office professional, has equipped her with a unique blend of pedagogical, leadership and operational skills.
Emily, who also lives in the local community, envisions Kool Kidz Charlemont to become a community pillar, fostering engagement between educators, children, and families. Her commitment is to lead a childcare experience that is not only safe and nurturing, but also values sustainability, encouraging children to care for their land and local community.
Donna, drawing from over 20 years of diverse professional experience, including managing large teams in a corporate environment and running a successful franchise business, brings invaluable business acumen to Kool Kidz Childcare Charlemont. Her decision to enter the childcare industry stems from witnessing Emily’s rewarding experiences in roles with Kool Kidz, along with the opportunity to establish an exciting and community-focused childcare business in partnership with her daughter. Donna will oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, and her goals are clear: to achieve exceeding practices that support greater outcomes for children, ensure a stable staff environment, and to actively engage with the local community.
Together, Donna and Emily are committed to ensuring that Kool Kidz Childcare Charlemont is a warm, welcoming space in the local community, where under their leadership, the centre will embody the essence of a family-friendly childcare experience.
0-1 years
To nurture your infant’s growing mind and body, our qualified educators create healthy, caring relationships with you and your child. Our rooms are filled with toys and equipment for early, play-based fun and learning to support your infant’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. They also include separate cot rooms where your baby can safely sleep according to their routine in their own cot.
Our infant Curriculum fosters early sensory exploration, motor skill development, and social-emotional growth through sensory play, tummy time, and interactive games.
1-2 years
From learning how to solve problems—to discovering books, stories, and words and creatively expressing themselves through activities like painting, singing, and dancing—experience the joy as your child becomes more independent, adventurous, and confident during these wonderful years.
We recognise your toddler’s individuality and increasing sense of independence. Our educators take time to work with your toddler to encourage their understanding of their developing emotions. Immersed in our language-rich environment, your toddler learns words and sentences by singing songs, telling stories and engaging in conversations.
3-6 years
Not only do we offer an action-packed, immersive and engaging curriculum, but free kindergarten is available at Kool Kidz. Our 15-hour per week program for four-year-olds and 5-to-15-hour program for three-year-olds saves you $2,101 per child.
Our teachers follow our Kool Beginnings Curriculum, which implements the Victorian Early Years and Development Framework (VEYLDF). In our purpose-designed rooms, your child learns and develops the skills they need to be ready for school—and life.
