Kool Beginnings Curriculum (KBC) is our child-focused, play-based, comprehensive curriculum. Built on the Australian Early Years Learning Framework, we aim to support all children, including those in 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten, to grow and learn through an educational program tailored to their individual goals and needs. We ensure families, educators, and visitors feel a sense of belonging, safety, and security to be who they are and are supported to become all they can be.

As a father of two, Clinton Downing understands firsthand the importance of early childhood education and the trust parents place in childcare providers. His vision for Kool Kidz is based on creating a welcoming space in the Merrifield community where both children and their families feel supported and excited about their educational journey.
Clinton is committed to family-oriented care and believes in maintaining fairness and openness with families, ensuring that they always feel valued and heard. His hands-on approach and dedication to excellence set the tone for the entire Kool Kidz Childcare Merrifield team, fostering a community where children thrive and parents have peace of mind.
Clinton’s journey into the childcare industry is unique. Originally from Melbourne and now residing in Geelong, Clinton started his career as an apprentice in the glass industry, quickly advancing to a management role. After a decade in the glass industry, he moved into sales and consulting roles, eventually founding his own successful business in welding products.
In 2015, seeking new opportunities in a new industry, Clinton discovered the potential in the childcare sector and joined Kool Kidz. Despite initial challenges in finding a potential site, his determination and vision led him to become the Approved Provider in 2021. Clinton takes on a diverse range of responsibilities, including overseeing daily operations, managing bookkeeping and payroll, ordering supplies and personally tending to the centre’s grounds.
One of Clinton’s most cherished experiences in the childcare industry is attending kinder graduations. The joy and sense of accomplishment on the faces of children and parents make all his efforts worthwhile.
Building a sense of community is paramount at Kool Kidz Childcare Merrifield. Clinton ensures the centre remains fresh and welcoming, regularly upgrading facilities and fostering a positive atmosphere. His leadership encourages the team to be approachable, reliable, and committed to delivering the highest quality of care for children in the local community.

To nurture your infant’s growing mind and body, our qualified educators create healthy, caring relationships with you and your child. Our rooms are filled with toys and equipment for early, play-based fun and learning to support your infant’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. They also include separate cot rooms where your baby can safely sleep according to their routine in their own cot.
Our infant Curriculum fosters early sensory exploration, motor skill development, and social-emotional growth through sensory play, tummy time, and interactive games.
1-2 years
From learning how to solve problems—to discovering books, stories, and words and creatively expressing themselves through activities like painting, singing, and dancing—experience the joy as your child becomes more independent, adventurous, and confident during these wonderful years.
We recognise your toddler’s individuality and increasing sense of independence. Our educators take time to work with your toddler to encourage their understanding of their developing emotions. Immersed in our language-rich environment, your toddler learns words and sentences by singing songs, telling stories and engaging in conversations.
3-6 years
Not only do we offer an action-packed, immersive and engaging curriculum, but free kindergarten is available at Kool Kidz. Our 15-hour per week program for four-year-olds and 5-to-15-hour program for three-year-olds saves you $2,101 per child.
